Missy Bateson is a fine gardener, horticultural consultant, and botanical arts instructor based in the Hudson Valley, serving clients throughout New York City, Upstate New York, and Connecticut. With more than 20 years in high-end residential landscapes, her work ranges from custom urban rooftops to multi-acre estate gardens.

Missy holds a BFA in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute. That design background informs a disciplined, detail-driven approach to garden care and restoration, with a focus on craft, proportion, and materials. In Manhattan and Brooklyn, Missy designed and managed luxury rooftop gardens with custom planters and curated plant palettes. Today, her services center on the long-term stewardship of established gardens, including seasonal planting, transplanting, fine maintenance, and site-specific consultations grounded in plant health and client priorities.

In addition to horticultural work, Missy teaches botanical art workshops exploring the history and folklore of flowers. Topics include tussie-mussies, pressed flower work, and botanical journaling. She is a member of the American Horticultural Society and is committed to cultivating resilient gardens that become more compelling over time.
